Sokeriherneitä palkoineen/Mange touts
Kurkkua/Cucumber
Punaista ja keltaista paprikaa/Red and yellow pepper
Tuoretta chiliä/Fresh chillies
Kevätsipulia/Spring onions
Naudanpihvi(meillä käytettiin tällä kertaa entrecote:ta)/Ribeye steak (or Sirloin)
Tuoretta korianteria/Fresh coriander
Kastike/Dressing
Soijakastiketta/Soy sauce
Lime-mehua/Lime juice
Thai kala-kastiketta/Thai fish sauce
Ripaus sokeria/Pinch of sugar
Leikkaa herneet pariin osaan, siivuta paprikat ja ota kurkusta siemenet pois ja leikkaa loppu-osa ohuiksi suikaleiksi. Silppua chilit, kevätsipulit ja korianteri ja lisää salaattiin. Paista pihvi pikaisesti pannulla vain pari minuuttia, jättäen se erittäin mediumiksi. Nosta leikkuulaudalle lepäämään pariksi minuutiksi. Sekoita kastike-aineet keskenään ja kaada salaattiin. Leikkaa liha ohuenohuiksi siivuiksi ja sekoita mukaan salaattiin.
This Thai-salad wasn't a success at all. Normally it has been very delicious, but for some reason this time all we were left after the meal was a sense of frustration. We had been waiting for our new fridge to be arriving and as the 9am delivery still hadn't arrived by 8pm in the evening, we just put together something quick to eat. I forgot to put in some cucumber which normally is essential to bring some moisture, and for some reason (too hungry!) we added some rice noodles which definitely soaked away all the little moisture that there was left. Even the pictures came out very ugly so I won't even bother to publish them. One of these days! But as I said, normally this is very nice and would definitely recommend to try it. Just leave the noodles out. And there aren't any exact measurements with this one, just taste as you go along.
Cut the mange touts and peppers in bite size pieces, remove the seeds from the cucumber and slice the remaining flesh into thin strips. Chop the chillies, spring onions and coriander and add to the salad. Fry the steak in a hot pan only for couple of minutes, and leave it very medium, even a little bit rare if you like. Let it rest on the chopping board for couple of minutes and in the mean time mix the dressing incrediences together and pour into the salad. Slice the meat into very thin slices and mix in to the salad.
