T päätti kuitenkin sitten kokeilla Aasian makuja ja teki siiville mausteisen marinadin kyseiseen tapaan:
1 punainen chili
Kummistakin vaihtoehdoista tuli hyviä. Ajattelin etta parmesaani olisi sulanut vuoan pohjalle, mutta se säilyikin kivasti siivissä ja niistä tuli mukavan rapeita, jopa rapeampia kuin Aasialaiset hornetit. Kuitenkin sanoisin etta Thai- kanansiivet voittivat kilvan 80/20! Kyllä sen huomaa miten maut vaan tulevat niin täyteläisiksi kun lihaa marinoi. Siivet olivat pehmeitä ja aromaattisia, ja marinadi maistui voimakkaasti myös lihassa toisin kuin parmesaani-siivissä joissa maku keskittyi suurimmaksi osaksi kanan pintaan. Kumpiakin vaihtoehtoja suosittelen ehdottomasti, mutta luulen etta meillä näitä Thai-vaihtoehtoja tullaan kokkaamaan pian uudestaan! Ainiin, ja tietenkin marinadia kannataa kokeilla muunkin lihan sekä kalan kanssa.
Yesterday we had a little battle of chicken wings back at home. There was a big box of normal chicken wings in the fridge, and we decide to try couple of different recipes instead of making the normal BBQ-style wings. First thing in our mind was some sort of Asian flavours but as we had some Thai-food during the weekend, I wanted to try something else. I grated a cup of parmesan cheese, and chopped some fresh rosemary and lemon thyme in and mixed with some black pepper too. I brushed the wings with some butter, coated with parmesan-herb mix and baked in the oven in 190c for about 45-50 minutes.
T still wanted to go with the Asian-style and prepared a Thai-flavoured marinade.
Juices of 2 limes
3 gloves of garlic
3tbsp of Thai fish- sauce
1 chopped red chilli
4tbsp of oil
2 tbsp chopped coriander
We marinated the wings for couple of hours and then baked them in the oven in 200c about 45 minutes.
Both recipes came out delicious. I thought that the parmesan would have melted to the bottom of the pan, but it actually stayed on the chickens and made the skin very nice and crispy. However, I have to say that this time Thai-wings took the trophy! It is fantastic to see how the marinade makes meat so flavoursome. The meat was tender and very aromatic, and the marinade tasted also in the meat instead of just in the skin like with the parmesan wings. I definitely recommend both recipes, but I think that the Thai-ones will stay in our repertoire in the future! Oh, and obviously the marinade can be used in any other meats and fish as well.
